Local animal shelters overwhelmed, urge families to consider adopting or fostering

GREECE, N.Y. (WROC) – Being less than a month into summer, many local animals shelter leaders say they’re near or exceeding capacity and are now urging the public to consider fostering or adopting a pet.

One shelter currently operating over capacity is the Greece Animal Shelter, operated by the town’s Animal Services. Director Chris Fitzgerald explained that most of the year, there are around five or six dogs in their care. As of Wednesday morning, 13 dogs were at the shelter, which can comfortably hold 10.
