Expect Intermittent Lane Closures On 70th Street Through Sunday

Assuming Mother Nature had something to say about the project that the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development was hoping to have completed late last month, but it appears the end is in sight.

For those who might recall, DOTD announced weeks ago that a number of sections of roads in Caddo and Bossier Parishes would be the beneficiaries of a $2.2 million project to make necessary repairs.

Those sections of roadways included:

  • LA 614 from US 80 to LA 157 in Haughton (Bossier Parish)
  • US 80 (Greenwood Rd) from LA 3094 (Hearne Ave) to Johnson St. in Shreveport (Caddo Parish)
  • LA 511 (70th St.) from Line Ave. to Linwood Ave. in Shreveport (Caddo Parish)
  • LA 789 from the Caddo/DeSoto Parish line north approx. 0.5 mile (Caddo Parish)

DOTD was in hopes that work would be completed by the end of May, 2026, but it would appear that weather prevented the completion of the project. It does appear the lion share of the work has been done, but some final striping is needed to finish.

To complete the striping work, DOTD sent an advisory to drivers that tomorrow, Thursday, June 25, permanent striping operations will begin on LA 511 (70th Street) between Line Avenue and Linwood Avenue in Shreveport.
