Madison County road projects may cause traffic delays

MADISON COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — Drivers traveling through District 4 may experience delays this week as several road improvement projects continue across the area.

Madison County Commissioner Phil Vandiver said that Wiregrass Construction is currently working on the Nance Road repaving project, focusing on the section between Capshaw Road and McCrary Road. Crews are milling the old road surface in preparation for paving and will continue moving north over the next several days as work progresses.

Drivers may also encounter delays at the intersection of Nick Davis Road and Pettus Road, where crews are preparing the area for a new traffic signal and additional turn lanes. Officials advise drivers to avoid the area if possible while construction is underway.

Construction continues on the new roundabout at Old Railroad Bed, Lockhart Road, and Orvil Smith Road. Crews are paving and pouring concrete as part of efforts to shift traffic onto the west side of the roundabout. Drivers are urged to watch for changing traffic patterns as the project moves forward…
