Investigation underway after train strikes, kills 1 person in Nicholasville

NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (FOX 56) — The Nicholasville Police Department said that one person was killed Sunday morning after being struck by a train.

Officials told FOX 56 that they received a call around 5:30 a.m. June 28, from the railroad after a train struck a person.

Once the train stopped, police found a body under the train, and it was pronounced dead at the scene by the Jessamine County Coroner’s Office.

A preliminary investigation suggests that the train was traveling southbound. Investigators said that the victim was struck north of the bridge of U.S. 27 when the train struck them…
