El Paso County Sheriff’s Office launches Fugitive Impact Team

(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPSO) formed a new team with the mission of reducing crime and strengthening investigations through the “Proactive pursuit of El Paso County’s highly disruptive criminal element,” according to an announcement released on Monday, June, 29.

EPSO Sheriff Joseph Roybal announced the formation of the Fugitive Impact Team (FIT) within the Law Enforcement Operations Division, recognizing that criminal offenders and fugitives don’t operate within jurisdictional boundaries, and indicating that the team will focus on pursuing offenders wherever they operate within greater El Paso County.

According to EPSO, the specialized unit will serve as a support resource for EPSO personnel and regional law enforcement partners by helping with high-risk apprehensions, targeted apprehension of wanted persons, and the identification of prolific offenders.
