Wilmington Hospital Shooting Suspect Back In Delaware

The man charged in the fatal shooting at ChristianaCare’s Wilmington Hospital has been returned to Delaware to face prosecution.

According to the Delaware Department of Correction, 23-year-old John Wallace-Bey was booked into the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center Tuesday following his extradition from Pennsylvania. Wallace-Bey was arrested in Philadelphia hours after the June 16 shooting and faces charges including first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, and related offenses.

Wallace-Bey was hire by the hospital in February 2026 as a participant in a six-month, non-clinical information technology internship program. Officials said interns were primarily assigned to the Newark campus but could be deployed to other ChristianaCare facilities as needed. On the day of the shooting, participants were working on a scheduled IT project in the basement IT office at Wilmington Hospital.
