JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The State of Mississippi filed an appeal after a federal judge temporarily blocked portions of the Metro Jackson Water Authority Act.
The state filed the appeal in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

In June 2026, U.S. District Judge Henry Wingate granted the City of Jackson’s request to halt parts of the law, which was passed during the 2026 Legislative Session and signed by Gov. Tate Reeves (R-Miss.). The city argued the legislation interfered with the federal court’s ongoing oversight of Jackson’s water system.
