CHESAPEAKE CITY — Ten people were injured, four of which suffered serious burns, when a boat exploded after refueling at Schafer’s Canal House and Marina Saturday afternoon according to Maryland Natural Resources Police.
“At approximately 4:00 p.m. today, emergency personnel responded to reports of an explosion involving a 1988 Wellcraft 32-foot cruiser near Chesapeake City,” said NRP spokesman Hunter Dortenzo. “Reports indicate the explosion occurred immediately after fueling.”
Dortenzo said four people were flown to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Md. for treatment of serious burns. Five others were taken by ambulance to area hospitals. The tenth patient was evaluated at the scene and did not require further medical treatment, Dortenzo said…
