INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis City-County Council has passed a plan to fund road improvements with an increase in the vehicle taxes in Marion County.
The proposal that was approved Monday would raise the local wheel tax and vehicle excise surtax drivers pay when registering their vehicles. Supporters say the increase is necessary to secure $50 million in state matching funds for road and infrastructure projects.
