JTRAN union issues 72-hour strike notice

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local-1208, which represents more than 60 JTRAN workers, have given a 72-hour advance strike notice to the public.

The union claimed MV Transportation, which is the contractor for JTRAN, has engaged in unfair labor practices.

According to the union, they will work with MV Transportation to resolve the issues up to the deadline on July 12, 2026. If the parties cannot do so by then, there will be a strike effective at 4:00 a.m. on July 13, 2026.

“We care about our riders whom we transport each day and do not want this strike to happen,” said Local 1208 President/Business Agent Charles Tornes, Jr. “The Union does not tolerate companies that try to bully workers by bad faith bargaining at the table. Throughout the negotiations there has been only one party, the Union, that’s been operating in good faith and actually wants to reach a deal.”…
