FIRST ALERT: Flood Watch continues through tonight

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue, creating a risk of flooding as we finish the weekend.

A Flood Watch has been issued and will be in effect until Sunday night. Additional information specific to your county can be found here.

SUNDAY: Heavy rain continues through the morning and is forecasted to last until lunchtime. In the afternoon, we will see a shift to more scattered downpours. This system may also bring strong to severe storms to our far eastern counties, with gusty winds posing a secondary concern, particularly in the Smoky Mountains. Temperatures will remain mild throughout the day, as the rain will limit afternoon warming.

MONDAY: Light to moderate rain will persist in the morning, while typical summer pop-up storms will return in the afternoon. Downpours may still occur. We can expect cooler-than-average temperatures for this time of year, with highs reaching the low to mid-80s.

TUESDAY: The chances of rain will drop significantly, with a dry start to the day and only slight possibilities of scattered showers in the afternoon. Temperatures will still be cooler than average but will start to warm slightly, with highs in the mid-80s…
