The Jefferson County Commission has approved more than $314,000 in federal funding for local organizations that provide emergency shelter, homelessness prevention and other services for people experiencing homelessness.
The funding will be administered through the county’s Community Services Department and will support several agencies across Jefferson County:
- Pathways – $50,000 for emergency shelter operations (CDBG) and $31,836 for homelessness prevention (ARPA)
- One Roof – $50,000 for its coordinated entry system (CDBG) and $47,202 through the federal Emergency Solutions Grant program
- Bridge Ministries – $85,000 for homelessness prevention through the Emergency Solutions Grant program
- Cooperative Downtown Ministries – $50,000 for emergency shelter operations (CDBG)
“Using the county’s federal funds, these organizations in our community help provide emergency shelter and services to prevent homelessness in our community and allow the participant to gain skills they need to improve their quality of life,” Community Services Director Frederick Hamilton said.
