Public asked to help shape master plan for proposed state park at McDonald Farm

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. — A new state park is set to take shape at McDonald Farm, and officials are asking residents to help decide what it will become before development begins.

Earlier this year, Hamilton County commissioners agreed to transfer about 1,300 acres of the farm to the state for the creation of a new state park.

The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation held an open house Thursday at McDonald Farm to gather public input for a master plan for the site.

Resident Linda Hixon says she sees the property as a chance to expand outdoor connections and activities.
