LARCHWOOD—A new community center moved closer to becoming a reality at Monday’s Larchwood City Council meeting.
The council held a public hearing and then voted to proceed with bonding for the 18,825-square-foot facility, which is expected to cost around $4 million.
Mayor Ken Kerkvliet said the city hopes to bond for about $1 million to complete fundraising for the center. Larchwood has applied for a $1 million Community Attraction and Tourism grant from the Iowa Economic Development Authority.
