PARMA, Ohio — After considering another earned income tax levy for the fall ballot, Parma City Schools Board of Education on Wednesday decided against returning to the voters.
“When we submit a five-year forecast in August, we’ve estimated we’re going to have a deficit of $16 million heading into the next year with an additional $10 million we’ll have to cut,” said Parma City Schools Superintendent Scott Hunt, who previously presented the board with three options for consideration.
“That’s $26 million — a fifth of our budget — which is why me as the superintendent and also the treasurer strongly urged our board to seek the first resolution to get a collection certified number from the (Ohio) Department of Taxation. And then, they would’ve voted again to put it on the ballot.”…
