After years of Northeast Ohioans having to drive to Columbus, Crocker Park announced that IKEA is coming to Westlake.

According to News 5’s Michelle Jarboe, IKEA has been looking for the right site in Northeast Ohio for decades. The retailer had a potential deal in Brooklyn in 2014. It signed a purchase agreement with the Plain Dealer Publishing Co. for 16 acres just north of the paper’s printing plant off Tiedeman, but that deal stalled and ultimately died due to concerns about wetlands on the property and a protracted review by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
