New taco spot with ‘overwhelming’ reviews opens in Plaza Midwood: What to expect

Traditional tacos and birria empanadas, mezcal sips and plantain chips are now hitting tables at La Vecina in Plaza Midwood.

Co-owner and operating partner Carlos Nuñez told CharlotteFive that the outdoor restaurant is in a soft opening phase, where customers can stop in for a taste Wednesday through Sunday, starting at 5 p.m.

Nuñez and fellow Bocao Sushi co-owner Victor Abad have teamed up on the venture with Moo & Brew co-owner Ken Thomas, who noted a grand opening date hasn’t been set but that it’s expected in late August or early September…
