Portland Police investigate potential bias crime after fan was spit on during Fire game

A Portland Fire fan says they were spit on at the Moda Center on Friday night, claiming the person also used homophobic and transphobic comments.

Portland police confirmed to The Oregonian/OregonLive that they are investigating the incident alleged to have taken place during the game between the Fire and the Indiana Fever as a possible bias crime.

A Portland Fire season ticket holder, who spoke with The Oregonian/OregonLive on the condition of anonymity as they fear retaliation for speaking publicly, claimed someone spit on them during the national anthem and shouted “there’s too many lesbians around,” and “set trans on fire.”…
