Staten Island DA warns seniors about jewelry scam targeting older adults

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The Richmond County District Attorney’s Office is warning residents to be on alert after a recent string of jewelry theft scams targeting senior citizens across the borough.

According to the DA’s Office, scammers are approaching elderly residents under false pretenses, earning their trust before asking to examine, clean or inspect their jewelry.

Within seconds, the suspects allegedly steal the valuables or replace them with counterfeit items before victims realize what has happened…
