License Plate Readers lead to 105th vehicle related arrest this year in Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Officers located a stolen vehicle and made an arrest in Fresno on July 22, which added to the LPR arrest tally, according to the Fresno Police Department.

Officials say License Plate Readers (LPR) scanned a stolen vehicle on July 22 around Abby and Belmont avenues. Officers then followed the vehicle to Clark and Lewis avenues, according to the department.

Officers say 35-year-old Ernie Chanmany, the driver, was arrested for auto theft and possession of a controlled substance.

105 vehicle-related arrests have been made in 2026 with the use of LPR, according to the department. Officers say there have been 224 stolen vehicles recovered with the help of LPR in 2026…
