NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – An armed suspect in an alleged domestic violence incident barricaded himself inside a home in the Seabrook neighborhood of New Orleans East, but surrendered to police after a four-hour standoff early Wednesday (Aug. 5), authorities said.
The adult male suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed, surrendered “without incident” around 8 a.m. after being encouraged by his mother to end the confrontation.
The situation had prompted a deployment of the NOPD’s SWAT unit, and a perimeter to be set in the 7700 block of New Castle Street.
According to the NOPD, the man was “barricaded in a home with multiple weapons,” and refused commands to leave the home. The SWAT roll was declared at 4:18 a.m…
