An iconic two-story building on Tonquin Road used by emergency responders was recently demolished after standing for more than 35 years.
Last month, Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue took down its two-story administrative building that served as headquarters for its training division staff — and numerous other purposes — at its Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue Training Center, 12400 S.W. Tonquin Road, just outside of Sherwood.
Built in 1991, officials said the demolition of the 13,912-square-foot facility was necessary because it “lacks the space and modern features needed to properly train and equip the latest generation of first responders.”…
