KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is leading an investigation into an in-custody death that occurred Wednesday afternoon at a Sutherland Avenue convenience store.

At approximately 2:30 p.m., Knoxville Police Department officers responded to the BreadBox at 3818 Sutherland Avenue after a store employee reported that a man, who had previously been trespassed from the location, was refusing to leave. Management requested the man be arrested.

As officers attempted to take the man into custody, he resisted. Multiple backup officers arrived and the man was arrested without further incident…
