Fort Mill’s ‘Bermuda Triangle’ of Cheap Gas Is Worth the Detour

If you’ve driven through Fort Mill lately, you may have noticed something unusual along Gold Hill Road. Within a few hundred feet of one another sit three gas stations—John’s Place, Murphy USA and QuikTrip—that have quietly created what could be called the “Bermuda Triangle” of cheap gas.

Fortunately, the only thing you’ll lose there is less money at the pump.

For those of us who regularly travel across South Carolina, the difference is striking. While larger cities like Rock Hill, Greenville and Spartanburg typically post gas prices near the state average, even smaller communities such as Chester, Lancaster and Union often charge 30 to 50 cents more per gallon than the trio of stations along Gold Hill Road…
