BERNALILLO COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – Bernalillo County Animal Care Services is celebrating the reopening of its canine rooms, which are quiet spaces that support emotional well-being by helping shelter dogs relax, feel secure, and express their true personalities.

In 2024, the facility sustained mold damage, which resulted in the loss of 28 canine rooms. But after extensive repairs and renovations, the department announced they are ready to reopen the spaces.
“This renovation represents far more than repairs—it reflects our commitment to providing safe, comfortable, and enriching spaces for the animals entrusted to our care,” Animal Care Services Director Misha Goodman stated in a news release. “We’re grateful to the community for standing by us through the renovations, and we are thrilled to welcome everyone back into the main hall to celebrate this new chapter together.”…
