ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Two rafters are safe after getting caught in rising waters during a storm in Allentown on Friday.
According to Allentown Fire Captain Jon Hammel, the pair called 911 around 4:30 p.m. after water levels rose quickly in the Lehigh River in the area of Canal Park, leaving them clinging to a rock.
A water rescue response was requested from the city of Bethlehem Fire Department by incident command. Two boats were launched from the Allentown Fire Department and shortly thereafter, they located and removed the two stranded rafters, according to officials…
