Orleans Parish west bank under another boil water advisory after contractor damages main

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – Water customers on the west bank of Orleans Parish were plunged into another boil water advisory early Saturday (Aug. 8), after a contractor damaged a main and caused water pressure to fall to unsafe levels, the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans said.

The utility advises affected customers to boil water for at least a minute before drinking, cooking or cleaning.

The SWBNO said water pressures in this area fell below 20 pounds per square inch “due to contractor damage on a water main near General De Gaulle and Indiana Street.”…
