WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — As students return to school across South Florida, yellow buses, crowded school zones and children waiting along neighborhood roads are once again becoming part of the morning commute.
The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office is using the start of the school year to remind motorists about Florida’s school bus stopping laws, including rules that can vary depending on the type of road and whether traffic is separated by a median or physical barrier.
Florida law requires drivers approaching a school bus displaying its stop signal to come to a complete stop while the bus is stopped. Motorists cannot pass the bus until the stop signal has been withdrawn…
