PERRYSBURG, Ohio (WTVG) – Animal advocates say discarded fishing line, hooks and lures are injuring native birds across northwest Ohio, cutting off circulation, fracturing bones and leaving wildlife in prolonged distress.
Rachel Shamy, founder of the all-volunteer Quack Pack and a volunteer with Nature’s Nursery, said her group receives calls each week about local birds trapped in abandoned fishing equipment.
