ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — Nearly two years after Helene sent roughly 8 feet of floodwater through a facility serving veterans in Asheville, the damaged site is preparing for a new beginning.
Asheville Buncombe Community Christian Ministry (ABCCM) will break ground Thursday, Aug. 13, on a new and expanded Veterans Restoration Quarters along Tunnel Road, replacing the campus destroyed by the storm in 2024. Plans include adding housing, education and other services for veterans across Western North Carolina.
