I have seen nothing but problems with short-term rentals in my small village: driving golf carts 30 mph or more on the narrow village streets, not stopping or yielding at stop signs, playing loud music late at night that isn’t considerate to everyone, putting trash roadside on non-garbage days, and screaming kids. Fortunately, there have been only two owners who have done this.
I like the feeling of security knowing who my neighbors are. It’s comforting to recognize familiar faces even if I haven’t met them in person. As residents, we have mutual respect and consideration for our neighbors.
Short-term renters don’t care. They are on vacation and feel like they deserve to act however it pleases them without being here long enough to see the consequences…
