Anna Giordano, managing partner of Anna’s on Royal Street, pitched the idea to several Bywater dive bars to make art more accessible in an unconventional setting — the bathroom.
“At first, it seemed like a hard thing to explain, but once people experienced it, they understood the concept,” Giordano said.
Organized by Giordano, “It’s Potty Time” is a self-guided Bywater art crawl running through Aug. 29. Visitors can hop from bar to bar, escape the summer heat, and discover murals, mixed-media art, fabric collages, and other original works hidden behind restroom doors throughout the neighborhood.
