Clerk denies recall effort targeting entire township board southeast of Ann Arbor

AUGUSTA TWP., MI — There will not be any recall elections in Augusta Township this November.

Washtenaw County Clerk Larry Kestenbaum made a determination that signed recall petitions targeting all seven elected township officials are “legally insufficient,” he said in a letter dated Wednesday, Aug. 12.

Kestenbaum’s rejection of the recall petitions was based on a “technicality” involving how people who circulated the recall petitions listed their own addresses. It was not due to how many voters in the township signed the petitions…
