Are you an Illinois resident who would happily skip winter altogether? You probably won’t like to hear what I’m about to tell you in the middle of August, but winter is coming, and the Illinois Department of Transportation is preparing for it now.
Winter Forecast Predictions for Illinois
If you buy into long-range weather forecasts, the Farmers’ Almanac is predicting winter 2026-2027 in Illinois could bring plenty of the stuff we’d rather not deal with, including roller coaster temperatures, quick-moving snow systems, and sudden cold snaps.
In other words, we might need our snow shovels and snow blowers frequently, or perhaps only a few times this winter, but either way, the Illinois Department of Transportation isn’t taking any chances.
IDOT Hiring For Snow Removal Operators
The Illinois Department of Transportation is already getting ready for the 2026-2027 snow-and-ice season and is looking for people to help keep the roads clear when Mother Nature decides to make our morning commute miserable.
