Palm Beach County man pleads guilty in fentanyl death case, gets 30 years

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) — A Palm Beach County man who was scheduled to go on trial Friday in a fentanyl-related death case instead reached a plea agreement with prosecutors and was sentenced to 30 years in prison.

Casey Whitney Lafontant pleaded guilty to manslaughter, sale of fentanyl, and trafficking in fentanyl. Under the plea agreement, Lafontant was sentenced to 30 years in prison on the trafficking charge and must serve 25-1/2 years of that sentence. He was also sentenced to 15 years each on the manslaughter and fentanyl-sale charges. Those sentences will run concurrently with the 30-year trafficking sentence.

Lafontant was also ordered to pay $105,000 in fines by November 2056…
