NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — While many back-to-school events focus on handing out supplies, a different type of gathering in Norfolk Saturday morning brought students, families and education leaders together to focus on guidance, safety and community support.
Students from various Norfolk schools gathered at Trinity Presbyterian Church on Colonial Avenue for the Fifth Annual Back-to-School Prayer Breakfast. As families ate, students went to the podium, one by one, to pray for the upcoming school year. They addressed concerns about safety and education.
One student prayed, “There are a lot of school shootings, especially in the United States. We ask for your guidance, Lord. We ask for your protection.”…
