Wire transfer scam: Lehigh Valley woman loses $246K in real estate deal, cops say

Pennsylvania State Police are investigating after a victim reported losing nearly a quarter million dollars when fraudsters posed as a title company during a real estate transaction.

The 67-year-old female victim from Weisenberg Township reported the incident just after 1:30 p.m. Aug. 12. An investigation determined Devon, Chester County-based Tridant Land Transfer Company may have experienced a breach in its email system, state police in Fogelsville said.

The woman was contacted with wire transfer instructions from a scammer posing as a representative of the title company. The woman reported a loss of $246,666, according to state police…
