St. Louis Police Officers’ Association claims Mayor Spencer debated officer pay during officer’s funeral

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) -In a statement Monday, the St. Louis Police Officers’ Association claims Mayor Cara Spencer debated with officers about officer pay and benefits during the funeral of an officer.

In a social media post, the association states the funeral was held for an officer who had died by suicide.

“Unfortunately, St. Louis Mayor Cara Spencer used this occasion to approach multiple officers,” The statement said. “What began as a casual conversation quickly became an informal survey about officer pay and benefits, eventually turning into a debate over whether pensions and benefits should be exchanged for higher pay. Read that, again. Yes, Mayor Spencer chose to debate grieving police officers at a funeral.”…
