Ursa Major Opens Longmont Facility

Ursa Major, an aerospace and defense company, celebrated the grand opening of its new Longmont manufacturing facility on Thursday with Governor Jared Polis and the Global Business Development Division of the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT). The company is utilizing the facility to expand its production of avionics and in-space propulsion systems. Ursa Major is also expanding its manufacturing space at the Berthoud, CO facility. The Longmont facility and Berthoud expansion are expected to create up to 1,850 new jobs.

“Ursa Major’s expansion in Longmont highlights Colorado as a global leader in aerospace and defense,” Governor Polis said. “We are thrilled to see this innovative company grow and succeed in our state, bringing thousands of high-quality jobs for Coloradans that will strengthen our economy and drive even more businesses to call Colorado home.”

The Longmont facility has dedicated labs for welding and manufacturing, an ISO 7 hard-walled clean room with an ISO 8 gowning room, and an environmental test lab. Ursa Major has six sites with Berthoud, Longmont, and Galeton facilities in Colorado, Youngstown and Boardman facilities in Ohio, and a Washington DC facility.
