BATON ROUGE, La. — More than five decades ago, Scotlandville’s library operated from a 2,550-square-foot leased storefront.
On Thursday, residents walked through the doors of something dramatically different.
The Scotlandville Branch Library has reopened following an $8.8 million expansion and renovation, giving one of Baton Rouge’s historic African American communities a larger public space built not only for books, but for technology, education, cultural preservation, community gatherings and the next generation.
