BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – Councilman Cleve Dunn Jr. filed a motion to toss out his grand jury indictment Tuesday, citing procedural missteps by the Attorney General’s Office.
Dunn is facing nine felony counts, accused of theft, public bribery, money laundering, public contract fraud, illegal splitting of profits, and malfeasance in office.
The language in Tuesday’s filing is very similar to what was filed last Friday by attorneys for EBR School Superintendent Lamont Cole. Dunn’s attorneys argue the attorney general’s office can investigate but can only prosecute with a written request from the district attorney.
