KITTITAS COUNTY, Wash. – A 37-year-old climber has donated $10,000 to the Spokane Regional Air Support Unit (SRASU) after he was rescued from a cliff ledge on July 31, where he had become stranded overnight, according to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO).
The climber embarked from the Cathedral Rock Trailhead at 5 a.m. on July 30, making his way to the summit of Mount Daniel by the late afternoon. SCSO officials reported that while descending from the summit, the climber took the wrong route by mistake, which resulted in him becoming trapped on a small cliff ledge below a rock spire around 6 p.m.
