Birthday jump blown off course: Woman injured in Longmont parachute landing

Elizabeth Gaucin’s 39th birthday did not go as planned.

One moment, Gaucin was soaring high in the sky above Longmont, strapped to a parachute for the first time. Then, wind picked up and pushed the parachute, carrying Gaucin and a Mile Hi Skydiving employee, off course.

“We were coming down, and he said, ‘We’re going to land on this field,’” Gaucin said. “We didn’t even make it close. We were a popcorn in the wind.”…
