SPD returns stolen bike to eight-year-old fire victim

SPOKANE, Wash. — The Spokane Police Department reunited an eight-year-old with his bike after it was stolen near River Park Square last Thursday. The boy’s father told police that he purchased the bike for his son after they lost everything in the Spokane Complex Fires.

Officers observed a video of a man in a black hooded sweatshirt and face mask taking the boy’s red CO-OP bike after arriving on a different one. The responding sergeant sent photographs of the stolen bike to officers for awareness.

The next day, on Aug. 21, an officer spotted the bike near South State Street and West Pacific Avenue. He confirmed the bike’s serial number matched that of the one that was stolen and returned it to the young boy…
