‘He literally saved my life’: Dog warns owner of wildfire after COVID leaves her unable to smell smoke

A fast-moving wildfire in Spokane, Washington, might have trapped Donna Carberry at home if not for Shadow, her 3-year-old German Shepherd.

According to Good Good Good, Carberry did not realize the smoke and flames were so close because she had lost her sense of smell after COVID-19, so Shadow had to be the one to alert her.

The Old Trails Fire has been fully contained, but Spokane residents are still dealing with the damage it caused. Among them is Carberry, who lost her house but managed to get out with her cat because Shadow kept warning her.
