Charges filed against 15-year-old and parents following deadly crash in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – A 15-year-old driver and their parents are facing multiple charges following a June two-vehicle crash that killed a woman in Wilmington, according to police.

The Wilmington Police Department said the crash occurred shortly before 11:15 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16, at the intersection of Military Cutoff Road and Station Road.

Investigators determined that a Lexus, driven by Marina Smyrnow, was turning left when it was hit by a westbound Chevrolet Colorado. The crash caused significant damage to both cars and resulted in serious injuries. Smyrnow was hospitalized and later died from her injuries…
