MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – Early morning lingering rain across South Central Wisconsin will taper off, leaving behind damp roads and cloud cover to start the day. As the low-pressure system shifts eastward, atmospheric dynamics will gradually stabilize, allowing breaks of sun to emerge by afternoon. Daytime high temperatures will climb into the middle to upper 80s, accompanied by light westerly winds.

Energy lingering in the upper atmosphere will keep spotty precipitation chances present through the remainder of the workweek. Scattered showers and an occasional localized thunderstorm will remain possible during the late afternoon and evening hours on Thursday and Friday. While widespread severe weather remains unlikely, afternoon heating will destabilize the lower boundary layer, generating isolated convective cells that move quickly through the region.
Rainfall totals during these late-week pop-up events will stay light and localized. High temperatures through Friday will hover in the middle to upper 80s, while overnight lows will settle into the upper fifties and low sixties.
