Reno man charged with lying to obtain citizenship

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – Kevin Jesus King is set to go to trial in early November, charged with lying about prior criminal acts in order to obtain U.S. citizenship.

King made an initial appearance in court today on one count of naturalization fraud.

In January of 2018, The Justice Department says King submitted an Application for Naturalization. According to officials, he failed to disclose a July 2017 sexual assault and denied having ever committed a criminal offense for what he was not arrested. In June 2018, he was interviewed under oath by a U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services officer. He reportedly failed to disclose that assault again, along with a similar incident that happened just a few months earlier, in March. Officials say in both cases, he forced his victims to form sexual acts under threat of physical harm. Less than two weeks later, King obtained U.S. citizenship by naturalization…
