Spring Hill Man And New Port Richey Woman Killed In Tampa I-75 Crash

TAMPA, Fla. – Two people died early Friday morning after a pickup truck rear-ended a construction vehicle on Interstate 75 in Hillsborough County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The collision happened around 4:40 a.m. in the southbound lanes of I-75 near Fletcher Avenue. State troopers reported that a GMC Sierra was traveling south when it overtook and struck the back of a construction street-sweeper driving ahead of it in the outside lane.

Both occupants of the pickup truck suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities later identified the driver as a 61-year-old man from Spring Hill and the passenger as a 47-year-old woman from New Port Richey.
