SPOKANE, WASH. — Spokane Police arrested a man for breaking into a mausoleum at Holy Cross Cemetery and stealing an urn and items of sentimental value from a family.
The suspect, identified as Travis B. Batt, 44, faces charges of Unlawful Disturbance, Removal, or Sale of Human Remains following his arrest on August 28th near East Hawthorne Avenue and North Colfax Street, according to Spokane Police.
The investigation began on August 17th when the cemetery’s Service Director reported that a mausoleum niche had been broken into. The niche contained an urn and items of sentimental value. Officers carefully removed a decorative glass pane from the niche and recovered several latent fingerprints…
